How does the command mike connect back to the fixed VHF unit? Is there another wiring harness necessary? When the boat is left unattended how can the command mike be removed and stored inside the boat, is there a water proof socket available? Is there any way to incorporate a third party AIS transponder into this system? I have the AISTX transponder A. The command mic comes with all of the cabling requirted to install it. You'll get a bulkhead socket which the command mic plugs in to, then a long installation cable (6.1m) going from the back of the socket to the back of the M423. The HM-195GB can be very easily unplugged from the bulkhead socket for storage when the boat is left unattended and it comes with a connector cap to proptect the socket when not in use. The 423 cannot display AIS information, you would need to use the M510 to get that feature: https://www.cactusnav.com/icom-m510-fixed-marine-radio-with-smartphone-control-class-p-31637.html Bear in mind though that AIS data to display on the M510 can ONLY be brought in via NMEA2000 , so you would also need the optional box: https://www.cactusnav.com/icom-m500-wireless-interface-m510-fixed-p-32047.html
